Apparel
Summer Packing List
When it comes to clothing, the short tip is: keep it comfortable, casual, and layer-able! If you think flip flops don’t have a purpose in Telluride, then you must not be familiar with our summers! Summer festivals and community events make Telluride’s Main Street the center of activity during the warmer months. Visitors flock to the center of town for casual daytime strolls and long nights of fun. Ranging temperatures from daytime highs in the 70s to nighttime lows in the 40s call for a wardrobe that’s ready for anything. It’s just as logical to pack t-shirts and shorts as long-sleeved shirts and a light sweater or waterproof jacket. Like any mountain town in the United States, activities in higher altitudes can demand cool-weather attire even if the valley is warm.
- T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, and collared shirts
- Shorts and long pants
- Swimsuit
- Comfortable running shoes or boots and flip flops
- Light, waterproof jacket
- Sunglasses
- Hat
Winter Packing List
Winter wear in Telluride is dictated by activity as much as weather, but chances are pretty high that when you visit a ski town, the slopes are in your sights. If a ski vacation is on your horizon, being properly equipped is critical. Let’s just be frank – It’s not realistic to pack light for a Telluride ski vacation, but it’s important to plan your wardrobe for both time on the slopes as well as around town après ski. Who wants to be sloshing around town at dinner time in soggy ski gear after a day at the ski resort? Smart skiers know that layers are essential, with thermal wear or running gear being the ideal base layers.
- T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, and collared shirts
- Long pants
- Thermal underwear
- Waterproof jacket or coat
- Comfortable shoes, boots
- Gloves and scarves
- Ski boots
- Ski pants
- Ski jacket
- Ski socks
Outdoor Gear
Summer Packing List
While the majority of your recreational equipment needs are available for rent while visiting, there may be some items that you just prefer to be your own. For instance, hikers tend to prefer their own backpacks and seasoned anglers with fly fishing on their mind just wouldn’t dare use a rented lure. It may be a good idea to consider what activities you will partake in so you can be sure to bring along any essential accessories that you may be particularly attached to. Below is a list of items to keep in mind:
- Fishing tackle
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Lip Balm
- Moisturizer
- Backpacks
- Compass
- Reusable water bottle
- First aid supplies
- Specialized swimming gear (goggles, earplugs etc…)
- Other essential hiking or fishing needs
Winter Packing List
Winter activities are no different from those in the summer, many items will be available for rent through local outfitters. Consider what needs you may have based on the activities you plan to enjoy and the items you may already have on hand. You may not wish to lug along a pair of skis, but your goggles may fit snugly in your suitcase! Top winter activities include skiing, snowboarding, and hiking. If there’s anything related to your adventure plan that you would prefer not to rent, make sure you pack accordingly. Below is a list of items you may want to consider packing:
- Ski goggles
- Ski gloves
- Any specialized ski gear
- Lip Balm
- Moisturizer
- Backpacks
- Compass
- Reusable water bottle
- First aid supplies
- Other essential hiking or fishing needs
