Telluride Alpine Chapel

History

The church began as a mission church from Rosemont Baptist Church in Montrose, Colorado during the mid-70s. It originally began worshiping at the Porterfield Stone building Telluride as The Telluride Baptist Church. The church grew and moved locations several times over the years, meeting in school lunchrooms, private homes, the town Christian Fellowship building, the Nugget Movie Theater and finally to their current location. In 1997, Telluride Baptist Church became independent, breaking away from Rosemont Baptist Church to become The Alpine Chapel of Telluride.

Today

The Telluride Alpine Chapel is not affiliated or connected to any denomination or organization. The church uses the term “interdenominational” to describe their congregation, which is made up of many denominations, besides their Southern Baptist roots. Currently, pastors are ordained or becoming ordained with the Calvary Chapel Association. While the church urges its members to use whatever version of the Bible they prefer, pastors currently teach services from the Christian Standard Bible.

Services & Activities

Sunday services are held at 9 a.m. Services are 60-79 minutes in length and performed by Lead Pastor Jeff Fritsche. There is a children’s ministry for kindergarten – 4th grade children, and nursery is available for children 0-3 years during the 9 a.m. service that meets after the opening songs of worship and lasts through the service. The church hosts other events and activities, like “Coffee Open House” on Fridays, youth group activities, and more. The church is closed on Thursdays.
