Telluride Main Street
Colorado is full of large and small towns that offer a number of indoor and outdoor activities to keep you busy on a one-of-a-kind vacation. With a four-seasons climate, you can experience everything from snow sports to river rafting, golf, and other warm weather activities. Many of these towns also boast a bustling Telluride main street. Add in Telluride’s historic charm, and you have a formula for a fun and exciting experience like no other. Make sure Telluride’s Main Street is a part of your vacation plans.
Colorado Avenue
Also known as Main Street, you’ll find the heart of historic downtown Telluride. Telluride offers a slower pace of life, and while there are some stop signs throughout town, the nearest stoplight is 45 miles away in Ridgway.
Historic Telluride
The town was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1964 due to its significant role in the history of the American West. Visit the town museum on Main Street and learn about the town’s transformation from Ute tribe summer camp, to mining camp, to boom-town, and finally ski mecca. Shop in the stores and boutiques or enjoy a delicious meal at restaurants lining the street, many of which are housed in some of the original buildings dating back to the 1800s. It’s also one of Colorado’s 20 National Historic Landmarks. In fact, Telluride has NO chain restaurants, on Main Street or anywhere else in town!
Shopping
Just as there are no chain restaurants in Telluride, there are no chain shops. The shops that dot Main Street, as well as the other streets in town, are locally owned and operated shops and boutiques, many offering locally made items. Others include stores catering to skiers and snowboarders for all their equipment and apparel needs.

Dining
As stated before, Telluride has no chain restaurants. Several of these local restaurants are located on Main Street, dotted between shops and boutiques and serving everything from breakfast to dinner in casual environments and more subdued atmospheres for a special date or occasion.
