Telluride Mountain Village Gondola

Plan a getaway with loved ones to a resort town like no other. Colorado is dotted with many of these cozy mountain towns that offer plenty of activities throughout the year. While the ski lifts give you a great view in the winter months as they take you up and down the slopes, the Telluride Mountain Village Gondola is a unique experience that will keep you a little warmer until you reach the top. The best part: gondola rides are free!

When To Ride

The gondola is closed during the off-season but opens back up for beautiful scenic views in the summer. The 2025 summer/fall season starts on May 22, 2025, and runs until October 19 2025. A one-way ride takes 13 minutes. Ride 6:30 a.m. – midnight daily. For ski season 2025/26 it re opens November 2025 to be confirmed.

What to Do

Simply ride down again, or if you’re looking for more than just a ride, bring along skis, mountain bikes, or hiking gear and access the slopes and trails. Those trails are accessed from the midpoint in the journey at Station St. Sophia. Since the inception of the Mountain Village Telluride gondola in December 1996, it has shuttled over 2.8 million thrill seekers and others up and over the 10,500-foot Coonskin Ridge.

Access Points

There are several spots where you can board or get off the fantastic one-of-a-kind ride. Station Telluride is on Oak Street in Telluride. Station San Sophia at 1,750 feet up is 960-feet above Mountain Village and boasts access to the trails and slopes, as well as Allred’s Restaurant & Bar, The Ridge Club, and more. Station Mountain Village is the access point in Mountain Village. Just across from the station, a shorter gondola connects to Station Village Parking where the parking garage, Town Hall, and Mountain Market are located.

FAQs

Handicap-accessible cabins are available, and attendants are ready to help with boarding. Visitors with pets also have access to special pet-friendly cabins – make sure animals are leashed. The Telluride Mountain Village gondola cruises along at 11 miles per hour so you can take in the entire view. In the winter, cabins are outfitted with ski and snowboard racks, and in summer those racks are changed for bike racks. Attendants will help load your equipment properly.
