Getting to Telluride

By Plane

Get yourself to the airport, then relax on the plane. There are two airports most travelers arrive from. The Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) is just 10 minutes from the heart of Telluride, so you can be enjoying your vacation in no time. If you’re looking for a scenic drive as well, touch down at Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ), 65 miles from Telluride. There are direct flights from five major hubs in the summer, and ten major hubs in the winter. There are transportation companies at the airport, or you can rent a vehicle and take the scenic drive yourself. Although, once you get here, much of the area is walkable and your rental car will likely stay parked for most of your trip.

By Car

Depending where you’re coming from, you might make it a road trip. A drive through the scenic mountains of Colorado toward Telluride is a breathtaking adventure not to be missed. It also solves the problem of transportation while in Telluride, or if you want to make some excursions further afield.

By Bus

Travel much of the same route as you would by car, without driving yourself. There is a myriad of bus companies that make a stop near Telluride. Much like a plane trip though, the bus will go from your starting point to your destination without many stops – for pictures or other tourist destinations – other than refueling or legally-required driver changes. You’ll also need to arrange transportation from the bus station to your Telluride accommodations.
