Spring Break in Telluride

While some may dream of lounging around the beach during a tropical spring break, we suggest staying cool with a getaway to the mountains! Spring break generally falls in March or early April which is often still prime skiing time here in Telluride. And even if you’re not a skier, we have plenty of other activities to ensure your spring break has the perfect balance of excitement and relaxation. Whether you’re traveling with friends or family, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this spring break in Telluride. Skip the hot, sandy, sweaty beach this year and come shred the mountain, have a cocktail by the fireplace, or check out the hot springs on the western slope of Colorado.

Outdoor Adventures

Skiing: March and April are still big snow months most years! The ski resort and gondola close April 7 in 2024, so most spring breakers can still plan a ski getaway for spring break. From little kids and beginner adults to advanced skiers, there’s terrain or lessons for anyone in your group. One of the best things about skiing Telluride is you’ll spend your time taking turns and not waiting in lift lines!

Snowmobile Adventures: Not into skiing or maybe want to try something different? Take a snow mobile tour! From family friendly tours to advanced terrain tours your spring break group will see the surrounding area from a whole new perspective.

Sledding: Grab a sled and head to Firecracker Hill in Telluride’s Town Park for a fun-filled day for the young and young at heart.

Relaxation

Spas: Adventure is great, but the key word in spring break is BREAK! Swimming: If it doesn’t feel like spring break to you without a dip in the pool, you might venture up to Mountain Village and get dinner at the Mountain Lodge which allows you access to their heated pool. Another option is to enjoy one of the Lodging in Telluride properties that offers access to a heated pool or hot tub!

Art, Music, History

Art Walk: How about a casual evening strolling around our historical town enjoying wine and art? Telluride Arts District hosts monthly art walks if you happen to visit the first week of the month. The first Thursday of each month Telluride Arts HQ, town galleries, and restaurants host a reception and artists from 5-8pm.

Telluride Historical Museum: Get in from the cool, possibly snowy weather, for an hour or two and explore what used to be the local hospital in our town’s mining days, but now serves as the local history museum. Learn about our area’s Ute heritage, robust mining history, and ski and festival history. Visitors can also participate in historic walking tours of Telluride, Fireside Chats, or the Hike/Ski into History program.

Gondola to Mountain Village

The town of Mountain Village is connected to the town of Telluride via free gondola ride. Enjoy your scenic ride up and over the mountain then spend some time exploring the Mountain Village core. Check out the Telluride Distillery tasting room, grab a glass of wine at M Bar at the Madeline Hotel, or enjoy a dinner with amazing views at the Altezza restaurant at The Peaks Resort. Little ones will enjoy ice cream from Tracks, a sweet treat from Dylan’s Candy Bar or video games and pizza at Crazy Elk Pizza. Shop for gear or some on-trend jewelry or clothing.

Of course you could spend hours just strolling and shopping up and down our main street, Colorado Ave. Also, be sure to enjoy some of our amazing bars and restaurants.
